Girls Golf

The girls golf team has been thrown for a loop with the most recent game scheduled for Sept. 10 at La Mirada golf course being canceled. Pamela Bustamante says that although the constantly changing schedule is difficult to deal with, it is better than having to play in the heat. “With temperatures reaching over 100 degrees, a canceled game doesn’t seem terrible,” Bustamante said. “It’s not fun to play a game in the heat because it’s just walking around the whole time.” The pre-existing coach, Maan Sidhu, recently left, leaving it up to Mr. Olivas to find the girls’ team a new coach for the season.

The Indians hosted Valencia on Sept. 24 and lost with a final score of 8-10. The team will travel to Laguna Hills on Sept. 26 for their second league match.

Girls Volleyball

Girls volleyball captain, junior Cora Sailhamer (pictured) spikes the ball during the (1-3) loss against St. Anthony. Sailhamer started off this season as a setter. She now leads the court being one of the strongest offensive players with her recent transition to the outside hitter position. “I’ve been a setter and now I’m an outside. So that’s different for me, but I’m trying to adjust and learn a new position and just trust that it’s the right thing,” Sailhamer said. The girls volleyball team is currently 5-2 and second in the Empire League. The Indians hosted Ocean View on Sep. 24 and swept, winning 3 straight sets (3-0). The girls volleyball team will play against Segerstrom tomorrow.
