Emily Brezarich

Emily Brezarich has loved just about every moment at FUHS and is grateful for all that her time here has done for her future.

“I think I’ve been able to do a lot here at Fullerton. I’ve been given a lot of opportunities and I’ve had fun taking them,” Brezarich said. “For example, with journalism I was a little bit outside of my comfort zone. Journalism is a lot more social than one would think, and that was hard for me going into it. But I think that it’s really helped develop who I am.”

As one of the Editors-in-Chief for FUHS newsite Tribe Tribune, Brezarich is well-versed in the ways of journalism and reflects on what it means to lead a team.

“Journalism allows you to be creative, I had thought it’d be more regimented, but it’s really all about expression,” Brezarich said. “The way I lead now, is different than the way it was when I was freshman; before, I felt like the editor’s had a commanding and strong voice, but I see now that being a leader of a journalism team is about remaining unbiased and open minded.”

Brezarich also participates in FUHS’ BEAST program, which implements a more creative twist on science.

“I remember in sophomore year Mrs. Hill was showing her classes videos of her and the other teachers going to Stan Winston School of Character Arts, and they were taking pictures with Jurassic Park things. I was like, ‘Dinosaurs! That’s amazing, I love Jurassic Park.’ And when she said, ‘We’re going to do what the movie people do,’ I was all for it,” Brezarich said.

BEAST allows Brezarich to express her love for animals in a more artistic way, and helps her further develop her desire to become a veterinarian.

“I want to be a veterinarian. BEAST kind of touches on that, especially since we’re learning about biology and anatomy,” Brezarich said. “I’ve always been really into animals, and I’ve always been super shy, which has been what made me veer more towards animals. It’s cheesy, but animals are always there for you.”

Brezarich plans to major in animal science at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and then attend veterinary school. After college, Brezarich plans to become a military veterinarian.
