Annie Sanchez
Annie Sanchez has learned a lot about life during her four years at FUHS, and has truly grown from the experience.
“I definitely grew throughout high school, just like everyone does. I feel like that’s what you do in high school: you grow, you learn how to do new things. And that’s exactly what happened to me,” Sanchez said. “I’ve learned how to go beyond my comfort zone and not care what people think of me, and I’ve been able to grow a lot in that respect.”
Being co-editor-in-chief, business manager, and lifestyle editor for journalism, a full IB Diploma candidate, and a member of ASB, Key Club, CSF/NHS, Photo Club, Tennis, and Track and Field, Sanchez has taken on a full load throughout her high school career. However, she feels that the biggest influence on her life has been FUHS’ IB program.
“Being and full IB diploma candidate means taking a lot of IB classes, it’s a lot of work, you’re definitely challenging and testing yourself when you join that program. There were so many times where I wanted to quit, but I kept going, and it’s made me stronger,” Sanchez said.
As editor-in-chief of The Tribe Tribune, Sanchez has learned what it means to be a leader, preparing her for her future.
“What’s truly been a learning experience has been my time spent as an editor in journalism. As an editor you’re constantly having to communicate with your staff and help them with various things–you really have to be a leader,” Sanchez said. “I want to go into business management, and journalism has really helped me excel in leadership roles.”
In addition to her extracurriculars at FUHS, Sanchez was a student leader in the Bank of America Student Leadership Program, FUHS’s sole representative at Girl’s State, and an intern at both Goodwill Industries of Orange County and 60 Seconds Magazine.
Sanchez plans to major in Business Administration with an emphasis in entrepreneurship at the University of Southern California in the fall. After college, she hopes to work for the Anschutz Entertainment Group.
