The tennis team had a rocky start to their season, losing against multiple division one and two teams. The Indians ended their preseason with a 1-7 record.
Despite what appeared to be an unfavorable start, the Indians did not become discouraged. Instead of viewing these matches as a setback, the team used this as grounds to build off of for future improvements.
The Indians had a dominant start in their new league, beating Garden Grove (1-6) 13-5, Laguna Hills (1-6) 12-6, and Kennedy (3-4) 14-4, all leading up to the biggest challenge of their season: beating Valencia (6-2).
After a back and forth game, the Indians came out on top with a close score of 10-8. The Indians held on to their momentum, securing three more wins, cementing their first place in the Empire League as well as marking a historic moment in boys Fullerton tennis as the first team since 1988 to take the league championship title.
The Indians traveled to Garden Grove on April 24 for their final league match. Results were not available at press time. If the team champions yet another victory against Garden Grove, the Tribe will remain undefeated in league.
