Senior Jonathan Morales has been a part of ASB for three years and served as the ASB president this past year.

Jonathan is adored by many staff and students as he has been able to complete the full IB diploma, participate and essentially run ASB, while maintaining a bright and determined attitude. He will attend Stanford University in the fall to study human biology.

Jonathan is the first generation in his family to attend college.

“It’s pretty exciting, but also nerve racking because you don’t have anyone to look up to,” said Morales. “Just knowing that you have to face something new is kind of intimidating, but like with everything it gets easier overtime.”

Jonathan also recently received many scholarships including the Assisteens Scholarship, the KM Legacy scholarship, and a $40,000 Edison STEM Scholarship.

The Edison scholarship is a regional award that focuses on supporting students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math and empowering them to change the world. It is a very exclusive scholarship that only 30 high school seniors received this year.

“I really wasn’t expecting to receive it,” Morales said. “I started the scholarship process at the beginning of senior year and receiving it now is honestly just surreal.”

Jonathan is one of eleven seniors to graduate from the ASB program this year.
