Athletes persevere on the court, field
Class of 2022 Sports Spotlight
Aminah Crew, Basketball
Senior Aminah Crew led the girls basketball team this year. While the team finished 5-21, Aminah’s perspective kept her going. “My mindset this season was leaving it all out on the floor and finishing my final year strong. What kept me from giving up were my family and friends around me keeping me motivated. I also knew what I was playing for and what dream I wanted to accomplish,” Aminah said.
Kathryn Gutierrez, Soccer
Kathryn steals the ball from her Buena Park opponent during Fullerton's senior night. “Keeping your focus on just school and soccer really does make a difference,” Gutierrez said. “You need to absent yourself from the distractions you had as a freshman because it makes all the difference. And it’s okay to be alone, the more time you spend with yourself, the better.”
Ryan Knight, Football
Senior Ryan Knight earned Most Valuable Player at Fullerton's football banquet. Knight credits his coaches for holding him accountable. “My coaches have always been a big part of why I’m successful and have kept me on track all four years,” Knight said.
Nathaniel Le, Tennis
Nathaniel Le went 27-3 in the Freeway League this year. Le placed second for doubles with his partner Timothy Chung at their final tournament. Tennis coach Akhom Inthavong describes Nate’s leadership. “He mostly leads by example,” Inthavong said. “He's really helped his doubles partner who's a freshman. So being a freshman, playing with a senior normally he would freak out, but Nate really took them under his wing, made them feel comfortable.”
