Finals are FINALLY over! After suffering through late-night cram sessions, trying to wrap your head around what an integral even is or when to use preterite vs. imperfect conjugations, you have made it to the other side. Unfortunately for underclassmen, there are six more hours of NWEA tests during your final days at school in 2024. While the amount of testing has been overwhelming, we at the Tribe Tribune want to invite you to relax and spend some quality time getting in the holiday spirit.
We asked the Tribe Tribune staff members what they wanted for Christmas; their lists ranged from dragon jellycats to basketball shoes and digital cameras to a puppy. Regardless of your top wishes, you also should treat yourself during your two weeks of no school. To get things started, the Tribune compiled a list of things to enjoy as you take in your temporary freedom.
After an intense week of tests, the best way to unwind is by reading a captivating murder-mystery novel full of twists and turns. We recommend reading Felony in Fullerton by Debra L Brunner, a novel that follows the disappearance of multiple FUHS students. Buy the book for $18 on Amazon, $6 for the Kindle version, free on Kindle Unlimited.
While getting immersed in a fascinating book, why don’t you treat yourself to a festive drink at a local coffee shop. To find some of the best cafes in the area, check out our recent article reviewing the best spots and holiday beverages.
We also posted a list of recipes for homemade treats based on experience level, with fun ideas for making your own snacks for your family. The recipes are simple and yummy, perfect for just beginning and expert bakers alike.
And if you’re interested in making DIY gingerbread houses, get some inspo from the culinary students who participated in a gingerbread competition last week. Their ideas range from building the Christmas town in a Nightmare Before Christmas, to recreating the Polar Express train.
For the people who would rather watch a movie than bake in the kitchen, we have just the thing for you. The Tribe Tribune has created a list of holiday movies to watch over the break. They’re outside of the typical holiday genre, so you won’t have to worry about watching cheesy Hallmark movies that you have already seen.
And after all this, we hope you are well rested and have a fresh motivation for another successful semester. See you in 2025!
