Teachers Say Thanks

Kristen Cruz and family.

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, the Tribe Tribune asked teachers, “What are you most thankful for this year?”

This year I am especially thankful for the health of my family and friends and that we have been able to persevere despite the difficulties of 2020. Kristen Cruz, science teacher

Jean Page and granddaughter.

This year I am especially thankful for my family and my first grandchild, Shay, who is so much fun and fills me with hope and love. (Shay is now 7 months old; she’s 5 months old in the photo.) Jean Page, library technician

I am thankful for my wonderful family and my amazing students. Susan Lozeau, Spanish teacher

I’m thankful for my family being healthy and safe! Brooke Thorson, English teacher

I am thankful that we have the technology to do distance and hybrid learning during this pandemic. Also, pumpkin pie. Math Life! Warren Hahn, math teacher

Coach Salazar and family.

I am thankful for my wife Angela who is working hard in school, working, and taking care of our kids Jayden and Jameson. I am thankful to coach at the best school in America. I am thankful for all the effort everyone of my football players have put into their offseason. I am thankful to all my staff who have worked very hard preparing our athletes. I am thankful for our admin and staff for providing the best education they can considering the circumstances. Richard Salazar, head football coach

I’m thankful for family and other ways to be together. I’ve hosted a big Thanksgiving for the past 17 years. Everyone comes; it’s almost like a family reunion. We canceled it this year to keep everyone safe. But my dad, aunt, cousin, and brother will all cook together on a zoom call this year. It won’t be the same, but it’s worth it to keep my family safe. Sharon Hollon, social science teacher

David Shanebeck and daughter.

Honestly, I am thankful that I still have a job and that my girls are young enough to not have to be TOO affected by COVID. I am also SO thankful for my colleagues who without which I would not have been able to survive this crazy semester. I am also thankful for a great ASB leadership team (Zoey, Jonathan, and Angie) who have stayed positive in the midst of a pretty depressing school year. You guys rock! David Shanebeck, social science teacher and ASB adviser

I am thankful that my family has their health and our jobs are secure! Ashley Hill, science teacher
