FUHS Walkout Route on Feb. 6

PARKING LOT

Students finish their protest march going south on Lemon.

12:15 p.m. – Students group together in front of the gymnasium before starting their march.

Sophomore Hosanna Huy was one of the protesters. Huy said that she felt as though the walkout was an outlet for her to openly express her opinion on ICE raids.

“It was the most united our school has ever been,” Huy said. “I thought it was a cool opportunity to use my voice, especially because there’s not very much young people can do to help, like we can’t even vote.”

DOWNTOWN

12:23 p.m. – Students arrive at the intersection of Chapman and Lemon. Onlookers encouraged students as they made their way through downtown Fullerton.

Community member Dennis Arp said that the walkout highlighted the multi-generational dedication to advocacy.

“This protest really shows that we are across generations and that there are more of us than there are of them,” he said.

INTERSECTION

Students protest on Harbor Blvd outside of Fox Theater.

12:41 p.m. – Students arrive at the Chapman and Harbor intersection, heading north on Harbor.

Junior David Santamaria went to the protest because he felt the need to participate due to personal experiences with ICE.

“My family is pretty freaked out about it,” Santamaria said. “There have been times where my family members have been stopped by ICE, so they’re shaken up about it.”

Students march down N. Berkeley in unison at 12:45 p.m.

12:48 p.m. – Students arrive at the Juanita Cooke trail head, moving northbound on Berkeley. Multiple groups of students remain at the Harbor and Berkeley intersection to attract attention for the protest.

One student went to the walkout even though her parents were against it.

“ICE is killing, hurting, and locking away some of our dear friends and family,” she said. “No matter what others tell me, sometimes, I need to do what I think is right.”

Hundreds of FUHS students protest ICE.

12:54 p.m. – Students travel to the North Justice Center (Fullerton courthouse).

One sophomore said: “The biggest takeaway from today is that this generation is not afraid to speak up for what is right. We should celebrate that students who are part of a generation that has been made out to be immature is actually the driving force towards justice and equality.”

1:08 p.m. – Students conclude their march after over an hour of walking and return back to school.

The Instagram account that organized the walkout—spreadtheword_fuhs2026— posted a thank you note the day after the protest: “FUHS students chose to demonstrate against ICE and be on the right side of history. Change happens one bit at a time, keep showing up, keep speaking out, we’re in this together.”
