Sergeant First Class Maseleno Pese, former member of the army, joined the JROTC program. After serving as a combat medic in the army for 21 years, Pese retired and became an army recruiter.

Five years later he decided to pass on his knowledge of the military and become an instructor, working at Katella High School for eleven years.
Pese did not start thinking about joining the forces until he entered high school. “It was a family tradition,” said Pese, who has three older brothers also involved in the military.
Pese met one of the current JROTC instructors, Lieutenant Colonel Mike Albertson, ten years ago while attending JROTC instructional classes at California State University of Long Beach. Pese joined the FUHS team to establish and develop a new bond within the JROTC program.
Pese’s vision for the JROTC program is to take the battalion to the next level—improving their standings by reinforcing structure and sharpness.
