Christian Club to host Beauty from Ashes

This year, FUHS Christian Club’s Beauty from Ashes looks to empower attendees with a combination of music, spoken word, skits and more.

An annual event, Beauty from Ashes invites high school girls everywhere to enjoy a night of pampering and enlightenment in Jesus Christ. The girls will be served a pasta dinner by young gentlemen and engage in testimonies given by women from Hosea 2:14 Ministries.

“By the end of the night, a lot of people end up in tears. It’s really applicable to people’s emotions and what they’re going through,” said senior Jennifer Rogers, Christian Club co-president. “Of the people that go, even if they don’t go intending to be affected, they find something in their lives that they can relate to. There’s a lot of people there who can help you.”

Rogers is expecting a larger crowd from other campuses. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends and others who are high school age.

Male high school volunteers can receive service hours for helping to set up, serve at and take down the event. Two male mentors will have a message prepared for the volunteers while they wait during the event and games will be supplied for afterwards. Sign-ups will be in the breezeway during lunch this week. This event does not count as a service project.

“It really does empower you and give you strength. The people that come to talk have a real heart not only for God, but to also help you. It makes you feel at home, like you can open up about things you wouldn’t necessarily want to under a normal circumstance,” Rogers said. This will be her third year attending the event.

The semi-formal event will be held Friday in the FUHS South Gym at 5 p.m.. Tickets will be sold in the breezeway during lunch this week for $5. The cost includes dinner and the festivities. Come dressed to impress. Walk-ins are welcome.
