FUHS welcomes new principal
Last Thursday FUHS welcomed a new principal into the Tribe family. Mrs. Laura Rubio previously held the title of Assistant Principal at Troy High School. Now she is preparing herself to take on the ultimate leadership role at FUHS.
Rubio started her career in Santa Ana as a history teacher and eventually made her way up to an administrator role. However, in her heart, she still considers herself a teacher. Rubio is extremely excited to get to know everyone here at FUHS.
“I am very very excited to be here. It’s an amazing opportunity for me,” Rubio said in a short speech to the entire FUHS staff.
Rubio considers connecting with the people around her one of her primary strengths.
“I want to get to know everyone, get to know the school and the tradition, and the kids, especially. We do everything for the kids,” Rubio said.
The departure of Principal Goyal left the students and staff of FUHS surprised and unprepared. Superintendent Scott Scambray feels, despite the rapid process, that FUHS has obtained a great new asset.
“It was a quick process, but I think we came up with a gem,” said Scambray.
While students were disappointed at the exit of Rani Goyal, they are also excited for change and new ideas.
“Change is always fresh and exciting, especially when they bring positive attitude. I hope she will find it easy to ingrain herself in our campus culture and really embrace IFL,” junior Cordelia Tran said.
Students, teachers and administrators are all very eager get to know Principal Rubio, especially since Superintendent Scott Scambray gave an excellent recommendation.
“I truly believe she is the right person to lead Fullerton high school,” Scambray said.
Welcome to Fullerton, Principal Rubio!
