In late March of 2019 four students at Fullerton qualified for the 2019 National Speech and Debate championships hosted in Dallas Texas on June 16-21.  

Junior David Kwon and Senior Cordelia Tran qualified in Oral Interpretation, while Juniors Sydney Basham and Lauren Wright qualified for duo interpretation.

Since Nationals are getting closer, the qualifiers must prepare themselves even more for the upcoming challenge. Wright gave insight on how they have been preparing for Nationals.

“My partner Sydney and I  have been preparing by writing our new script and consistently practicing.“ said Wright

Many of the students have set goals for themselves when they get to nationals. Kwon is hopeful for success moving into this competition.

“My goal for Nationals is to break into the top 60’s. “I‘m going to finish cutting my script, which I think is much better than my previous script, and then I‘m practicing a lot more once Nationals get closer” Said Kwon.

Fullerton Speech and Debate is confident and excited as they move closer to the National Championships.
