Homecoming King Taylor Lucio and Homecoming Queen Michaela MacDonald just after being crowned on Sept. 16.

Homecoming took place on Sept. 17 from 7:30p.m.-10:30p.m. The “Starry Night” themed dance broke ticket sale records and the high attendance rate made the dance a huge success.

A lot goes into creating a successful event. Even smaller, unforeseen challenges can take extra time to deal with. ASB spent hours the day of the dance decorating the entire academic quad with string lights to emphasize the “Starry Night” theme. The process took much longer than anticipated according to the ASB commissioner of dances, senior Ashley Nelsen.

“The space is so open and having to wait for everything to get fenced off can take a lot of time,” said Nelsen.

Several tables had cookies baked and decorated by Fullerton’s Restaurant 2 students. The class spent up to two weeks prepping the bakery items for the special night.

“I worked my butt off for a whole week making those. It feels good that someone wants to eat them,” said senior Jaimee Rawlins.

At the dance, the Homecoming king and queen, Taylor Lucio and Michaela MacDonald, sported their royal head pieces throughout the night. The rest of the Homecoming court—juniors Sebastian Bernal and Emily Ong, sophomores Jack Bretz and Jacqueline Taylor, and freshmen Caysen Maus and Presli Dillon—represented themselves by wearing their sashes and crowns.

“I had an amazing time,” MacDonald said. “To win is an honor I will never forget but to win with my boyfriend [Lucio] is legit a dream.”
