On Dec. 9, National Honors Society hosted a Project Linus event as a service project for the club. Project Linus is an organization that donates blankets to children suffering from serious illness or trauma. At the event, NHS members made blankets to donate to the organization.

Club leaders, seniors Chloe Yousling and Meghan Taylor, organized and orchestrated the project. The planning of the event required a lot of communication between the Orange County Project Linus Chapter, NHS leadership, and the NHS club members; despite all this, the hard work paid off.

“I felt very purposeful and blessed to be able to make blankets for children who need them,” Yousling said.

Not only that, but Yousling was able to influence her peers through the organization of the project. Junior Justine Cedeno participated in Project Linus with a group of friends.

“The feeling of knowing someone was going to enjoy this blanket and knowing the blanket would hopefully make someone’s day great was a good feeling for me,” Cedeno said.

More than twenty brightly colored blankets were donated to Project Linus on Dec. 12., each bringing a little warmth to a child in need during the holiday season.
