Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

In Cassandra Clare’s novel Lady Midnight, Emma and her best friend, Julian, are venturing even further into their mythical world of faeries, vampires, werewolves, and warlocks to uncover the mystery that surrounds both her parents death, and the serial murders that have been popping up all over town.

Not devoid of intrigue and romance, the novel depicts forbidden love between Julian and Emma as they are eternally linked as friends through an unbreakable Parabatai bond. The two are in love with each other, but an ultimate ‘friendzone’ they can never be together.

The novel is a fast-paced and wise cracking story about teens who venture into a mystery with no leads and no clues.

The dialogue is never endingly witty and whimsical as Clare completely immerses the reader into her world of angels and demons.

The words leap out at the reader, leaving them to be gasping out of shock one moment, crying in another, and laughing in the next.

Lady Midnight is a new series, that while related to the world in Clare’s past novels and the Freeform show, Shadowhunters, past experiences with the novels are not necessary to understand the novel.
