Things to do during the winter

As the weather gets colder and the jackets and coats come out, the holiday season is just beginning.

Because we don’t get snow or extremely cold weather, our ability to participate in traditional winter activities is limited. But, there are still plenty of fun activities that we are able to do, and here are just a few local options.

The Anaheim Ice Rink offers public skating for $8-12, with skate rentals for $5. They have 2 hour time slots on select days (see website for schedule) for people to come skate.

If you’re feeling a little hungry after all that skating, you’re in luck! The Anaheim Packing House is right across the street; although it isn’t technically a holiday destination, it has plenty of restaurants for you to grab a bite to eat.

A closer holiday destination and fun activity is driving down N. Yale Avenue and Princeton Circle Way in Fullerton to look at all the beautiful Christmas lights. Located right behind Fullerton J.C., these two streets go all out for the holiday season, and houses all along the block are decorated to their fullest potential for people to drive down the streets and look at the lights and decorations.

If you don’t have a car, but you still want a fun way to spend time with your friends, you should consider having a Christmas party. Games like Secret Santa or White Elephant are always fun activities to spice up any holiday party, and are fun ways to give gifts to your friends.

After exchanging gifts, you can turn on the TV, grab some blankets and a cup of hot cocoa, and tune into ABC’s 25 Days of Christmas, where, for the 25 days leading up to Christmas, ABC channels play Christmas and other holiday movies for everyone to get into the holiday spirit.
