Spanish teachers Magdalena Villalba and Abimael Mendoza are co-advisers of the First Gen Club. They both attended UC Irvine, whose mascot is the Anteater, and proudly showcased their zot hand signs—the zot is the sound an Anteater makes when slurping ants. Villalba graduated from UCI in 1996 with a B.A. in Spanish Literature and earned her Master’s in Latin American Studies in 1999.
