FUHS baseball team (2-1) hit off their season with a 7-1 win against Sunny Hills last Friday.

Senior Justin Kim said he hoped for a league title last year, and looks for redemption this season. “We have been waiting for this moment since day one, all four years,” said Kim.

Kim said his excitement has motivated him to perform well his last high school season. “I’ve been waiting for my senior year to go out with a bang, so I’m glad it’s finally here,” Kim said.

The team has prepared for their season all year. From 5 a.m. weight lifting to staying late practicing for hours, Kim said his team’s dedication will pay off this year. “I just want to compete, win league, and get that ring. It’s all for Vos.”

Junior Raul Herrada said he felt excited knowing league is around the corner. “It all comes from team chemistry. We are one big family who has each other’s backs.” Herrada said practice for the team is one of the most important things they focus on.  “Practice is important because baseball is a muscle memory game. If you practice hard, the results will show in games,” Herrada said.

The team played Troy High School yesterday at Angel’s Stadium. Students and families attending were encouraged to ‘orange out’ in honor of Brenden Vos. Although the Indians lost 6-0, they look forward to the rest of the season and remain confident in their ability to reach CIF.
