How to prep for finals week

As we reach the end of the year, times can be tough with testing. Here are a few worthwhile ways to prepare for upcoming exams.

Prepare for a test by studying with review guides or chapter notes. However, simply asking the teacher for help is an extra step to ensure mastery. Khan Academy (https://www.khanacademy.org) is a great way to review for  AP exams and the SAT. It offers many practice tests and suggests subjects to review that are tailored to your individual needs.

Preparing for big tests is efficient with a study group, to bounce questions off of each other and quiz each other on material.

Make sure not to cram the day before the test. The brain works like a muscle. If the brain is overworked by studying hard the night before, it will be exhausted the next day. Study lightly the night before and sleep well.

Lastly, the right meal to provide the best nutrition will ensure the best test performance. Foods for the big day should contain high levels of protein, making milk, eggs, or yogurt optimal choices. Combine protein-heavy foods with carbohydrates, like low grain bread and oatmeal, to stave off hunger throughout the test.

It’s understandable to be stressed during the testing season, but these tips can help you achieve your academic goals!
