Dance Production leaps into a new year

The new school year has brought many new opportunities for the FUHS Dance Production (DP). On top of a new coach, DP is now performing at football and basketball games with cheer and song.

“So far, [this year] is going really well, it’s been a transition because we have a new coach this year, [but] it was a pretty smooth transition,” senior Co-Captain Alice Chun said. “We’re really enjoying performing at the football games and being more active on campus.”

In order to produce their amazing performances, DP must practice and devote time during and after school to perfect their dances.

“We have after school practices the whole week leading up to a football performance, and sometimes we do have more after school practices to work on our concert pieces,” Chun said.

Although the year has just begun, DP has created many fun memories through their fun performances and team rituals.

“I really liked the Homecoming football game, I think we had a lot of fun learning the choreography and also spending the time preparing before, like doing our hair and makeup is always really fun, and our potlucks,” Chun said. “A lot of the members [of DP] bring in different aspects, and we all have different strengths and weaknesses, and I feel like because of that diversity, we’re able to work together.”

Freshman Rochelle Tran is new to the Dance Production team, but has enjoyed her experience and school year so far.

“[DP has been] really fun, we do super fun stuff,” Tran said. “My favorite memory would be performing during halftime at football games because we have team dinner before and we get ready together, and it’s really fun hanging out [with my team].”
