Though the Girl’s Golf program was introduced to FUHS during the 2015-16 school year, the program, one of the newest on campus, has slowly been growing in numbers and support.

Senior Kara Taylor joined the golf team her sophomore year, the second year of the program. She was named co-Captain her senior year

“I got into golf because it was such a new sport at Fullerton and I wanted to try something new,” Taylor said.

Since then, Taylor has improved not only her golf game, but her relationship with those in the program.

“I believe that I accomplished my goal in making the team a lot closer and more of an actual team,” Taylor said. “I want to be known as a good leader and someone that my teammates could come to and rely on, whenever they are in need or even if they need a friend.”

Golf has been a huge part of Taylor’s high school career, and is something she will always value.

“I would recommend golf to my peers as well as incoming freshman because it teaches one about patience and commitment. It’s not an easy sport, it takes time and lots and lots of practice,” Taylor said.

Taylor has made the Girl’s Golf Team her “tribe” by making sure all girls are included and noticed on the team.

“We help each other and give each other strategies to help each of us grow as individuals in golf,” Taylor said. “We also hold team bonding events and as a captain, I would encourage the girls to be more comfortable with each other and converse.”

“My school tribe is extremely important to me because I have found my people and made long lasting friendships with people as well as teachers and staff that have shaped me to become a better person.”
