Hodgden’s Horoscopes: Pluto defines a generation
Although Pluto is scientifically known as a dwarf planet, it is still a very important astrological placement. It controls secrets, destruction, regeneration, power, wealth, and the unconscious. It is defined by a more negative energy, only because it forces us to acknowledge that evil does exist in this world. Forcing us to look inward at our flaws, it allows us to transform into stronger and more self-aware individuals.
Pluto will stay in a sign for 14- 30 years, so the planet defines how an entire generation views and deals with the topics that Pluto controls. Many of our parents were born either at the end of the Pluto in Virgo generation (1958-1971), or at the beginning of the Pluto in Libra generation (1971-1984).
If your parents were born in the Pluto in Virgo generation, they have a desire to help others and create a better community. They are very inventive, yet can also be critical and controlling. They place emphasis on the minute details of daily life, rather than the big picture. They embrace practicality over the materialistic perspective of the previous generation.
If your parents were born during the Pluto in Libra generation, it is likely that they emphasize love and relationships, but maybe not in the most conventional way. They focus on transforming the definition of relationships. They care greatly about how they present themselves which can cause them to become “people-pleasers.”
The Pluto in Sagittarius generation spans from 1995-2008, which includes all of us FUHS students. We place a strong emphasis on traveling, learning, expanding intellectually, and accepting others. We feel our worst when our ability to learn is restrained; not being able to expand our horizons is detrimental.
Though we are very free-thinking, we sometimes have trouble understanding the thought processes of those who have different beliefs than us. We also understand the positives of higher education, and pursue the topics that interest us.
We are very passionate about spirituality, no matter what that belief may be. Though we may not understand each other’s faiths, we still have a strong sense of respect for everyone.
Although all of us are very beautiful and unique individuals, Pluto in Sagittarius is a collective placement which brings us all closer together.
