“My family is the traditional hispanic family. We go to what we call the ‘Posadas’–which is a re-enactment of Mary and Joseph’s search for a lodging in Bethlehem– around Christmas time. For Hispanics, we typically celebrate on the 24th instead of the 25th and we cut the ‘rosca’–which is a traditional Spanish pastry–in February.  

My dad is from Durango, Mexico so we have a tradition my dad brought to us from when he was a kid. Basically, on either New Years Eve or New Year’s Day (it’s really a personal preference) we get grapes and eat 12 of them. The grapes represent 12 goals you want to accomplish but in our household, we end up saying pretty dumb stuff towards the end but it’s my family’s way of bonding and having a good laugh.”
