The “A Night on the Red Carpet” prom will be hosted April 26 at the Ovation Square in Long Beach. The event is scheduled for 7–11 p.m. Students must arrive by 8:30 p.m. Once students arrive, they are not permitted to leave until 10:30 p.m.
In collaboration with Pegleg Productions, some of the activities planned for prom include live caricaturists, a photo booth, casino tables, arcade games, a red carpet and Oscar statues.
To purchase a ticket, students must submit a signed prom contract to the office and obtain a signature from an administrator. For students who already have signed contracts, April 23 is the final day to get tickets with an approved guest pass for $150, with or without IFL. Prom contracts will no longer be signed by an administrator after this Wednesday, April 23. Students will be able to pick up the signed contract from the office the next day and go to Room 65 to buy the ticket(s) during break or lunch.
There are many contract rules that students must remember to avoid penalties such as suspension from other school events including senior activities. For example, students must be picked up within 30 minutes at the end of prom. Students can also opt to drive themselves to and from the venue.
The venue also has strict rules regarding what students can bring to the event. Prohibited items include alcohol/flasks, illegal substances, gum, all tobacco products, and perfume. Check the Prom Contract for more information. ASB also plans to have a bag check, so bringing a small purse or bag is an option.
Voting for Prom Court closed on April 22 and the results will be released this Saturday at prom. The top four nominees include seniors Mia Arevalo, Jaden Dunner, Sabrina Varelas and Benjamin Martinez.
ASB hosted a competition encouraging students to ask a date to prom in a fun, creative or sweet way. Junior Robert Gomez’s promposal for junior Andrea Alvarado won the contest, earning him two free prom tickets. Click on the photo slideshow below to see all 10 promposal entries.
